Atomik Cupcake: A New Brand That's Positively Explosive with Ambition

Denver, CO, USA -- Tracy Campbell was coasting through a slow, boring day behind the front desk during her apprenticeship to become a tattoo artist when a song by Supertramp came on the radio. “Ohhhh, the calamity...is there no way out?”

That's what the lyrics really are, but that's not what she thought the song “Take the Long Way Home” said. She thought he said “Oh, the humanity” (that's close, right?), and found herself picturing a creature that was part human, and part manatee—a humanatee! The idea lingered in her head for a whole five years, and after her mom insistently reminded her to draw what a humanatee might look like, she finally put pen to paper and drew what would become her first t-shirt design.

Now, Tracy is the heart and soul behind her very own small business called Atomik Cupcake Designs, curator of fine art prints and awesome t-shirt designs. She's a professional tattoo artist of five years, a freelance designer and writer, and a graphic design student—but first and foremost, she's an artist. Her goal with her creativity has always been to create in as many mediums as possible, and to reach out to as many as she can. When she began the idea for Atomik Cupcake Designs, she had decided to try something new with her artistic ambition; it was a way for her to finally sell her art to the public, something that she'd never done before outside of her tattoo career.

The Colorado-based business has been in the works since 2012, when Tracy first began using the name Atomik Cupcake Designs to brand her art site. The website, whose name derived from a pretend band that she and her friends had come up with during their freshman year of high school, initially was a way for her to get an art portfolio and a collection of her tattoos online so that it would be more easily accessible to possible clients. However, it wasn't long before she began to completely identify with Atomik Cupcake Designs as her brand, and things went smoothly from there into the world of freelance graphic design and, of course, into the sale of t-shirts!

Now, Atomik Cupcake Designs is taking to Etsy so that Tracy's dreams of getting her creations out there to the world can become a reality. Right now, the online store focuses on selling prints of her traditionally rendered art, with a more primary focus on the sale of t-shirt designs. Because the store has only been in operation since the beginning of February 2015, the inventory is small; however, she works independently every day to increase the selection of her products, making sure they're always fun, unique, and made with 100% effort. “Art is a universal language, after all,” the Denver artist says, “and so much can be shared through it, even through what may seem like just a simple t-shirt design. My hope is that people out there like my creations as much as I do!”

To promote the business and boost new sales, Atomik Cupcake Design's Etsy store currently offers a 10% off discount on $40 or more with the code ATOMIK10 at checkout!
